Business Development Executive

Deksia is seeking to create communities of our Business Development Executives in Grand Rapids, Detroit, Portland, Des Moines, Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, St. Louis & Nashville. We are taking applications for candidates in any of these cities. 

Business Development Executive

Reports to: Director of Sales 

Roles / What you’ll be held accountable for:

  • Networking
  • Building relationships with potential clients
  • Placing outbound customer calls
  • Expanding customer database
  • Schedule and run sales meetings
  • Understanding & selling Deksia's services to new and existing clients
  • Meet quarterly sales metrics

Main responsibilities for the position:

  • Move the needle today
  • Sell to the client's goals
  • Be an advocate for the client
  • Master the Deksia sales process

Skills or character traits we want to see in you:

  • Staying cool under pressure: this is a very competitive field that requires you to think and act fast. You must also be comfortable with knowing that a portion of your paycheck is directly tied to the revenue you generate. 
  • Natural extroversion & interpersonal skills: communication skills are critical for Business Development Executives who are focused on outbound leads. It's only natural for someone in this position to have an extensive network of contacts that they talk with regularly.
  • Sharp personal image: you dress to impress because first impressions are everything. This still holds true in the virtual age - even if it's from the waist up!

Who You Are / Competencies: 

  • 4-6 years experience in sales and/or business development where you have sold a service (not a widget/product/tangible item)
  • Effectively lead & manage interns & apprentices
  • A proven record of being an individual producer
  • Understands & can explain all products and services offered by Deksia, including a process that turns the client's vision into reality
  • Consistently turns prospects into new clients via inbound & outbound leads
  • A history of actively maintaining relationships with existing clients for retention
  • Seeks to understand industry trends & best practices
  • Reliable transportation

Skills / Experience that we'd love to see:

  • Advertising agency experience
  • Strong persuasion and negotiation skills
  • Experience working with Hubspot to generate leads
  • Experience using Google Workspace and affiliated apps (Gmail, Docs, Drive, etc)
  • Familiarity with the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS)

In nearly every case, our apprentices have completed their internship at Deksia, distinguished themselves, and shown the ability to make strong contributions in an area of need.

Apprenticeships are full-time paid positions and structured to give you hands-on-training with progressively expanding responsibility for the eight months of employment with us. Regular reviews keep you on track and as your apprenticeship ends, you either receive an offer of full-time, permanent employment with us or our help in finding your next position.

Internships at Deksia provide a fast-paced introduction to what life is like in a nimble marketing agency. You will gain exposure to real clients, learn the ropes, apply your skills, and receive hands-on mentorship from experienced professionals.

While the work and the experience are real, we take seriously the part that we’re able to play in our interns’ education and development. We take pride in the frequent comments from interns that they learned more in three months at Deksia than they did in four years of college.
